SeaDek Patterns and Designs
Every SeaDek job we do is custom, so you get to pick the pattern, colors, texture and thickness. Below are the main options with photos. We bring samples to the consultation so you can see and feel them on your boat, and you get a digital proof of the full layout before anything is cut.

The pattern is what gets cut or routed into the top layer of foam. Brushed teak lines are the most popular because they look like a classic teak deck. An outer route or pinline adds a border in a second color that follows the edge of each piece, which gives the whole deck a finished look. Tarpon scale, hexagon and fractal patterns are more of a custom look and show up best on casting decks and flats boats. You can also add a logo or boat name to any piece.
SeaDek Colors
SeaDek comes in a wide range of solid colors, and on two and three layer sheets you pick a top color and an accent color underneath that shows through the pinlines and routes. Grays over black are the most popular combo we install, with Storm Gray over Black and Storm Gray over Bahama Blue close behind.
A couple things to think about when you pick. Color makes the biggest difference in how hot the deck gets in the sun. Lighter colors stay cooler underfoot and darker colors can get hot, so if you run barefoot or have a dog on board, go lighter. Mid grays and tans hide dirt and fish blood better than white. And it helps to match the gelcoat, upholstery or hull color so the deck looks like it came from the factory.
Brushed vs Embossed Texture
Brushed has fine lines across the surface. It’s the most common finish we install, it looks clean and it gives good grip wet or dry. Embossed has a pattern pressed into the surface for a different look and feel. If you’re not sure, we’ll bring samples of both.
SeaDek Thickness Options
Thickness affects comfort and how many colors you can have.
- 5mm, one color: the simplest option, good for swim platforms, steps and cooler tops.
- 6mm, two colors: the most popular for full decks. The accent color underneath shows through pinlines, borders and logos.
- 9mm, three colors: more cushion and room for more detailed designs.
- 13mm: extra thick, mostly used for helm pads and anywhere you stand for hours.

Can I see samples before I decide?
Yes. We bring color and texture samples to the consultation, and you approve a digital proof of the full design before we cut anything.
Which colors stay the coolest?
Lighter colors. Darker colors hold more heat in the sun, so if heat is a concern we’ll steer you lighter. Our guide to picking SeaDek colors goes into more detail.
Can you add my logo or boat name?
Yes. We design it in CAD and route it into the foam so it shows in your accent color.
